The Other Yesterday: The Site

Why do I call this site The Other Yesterday?

Well, it all started in Italian class last spring. We learned that the Italian phrase that corresponds to the English "the other day" is l'altro ieri, which translates literally as "the other yesterday." Basically, I really liked this phrase and wanted to use it for something.

I thought that the rather elusive idea suggested by "The Other Yesterday" went well with several aspects that I intended to include on my site, such as writing (creation of a sort of alternative past), crafts (using practices and methods from the past in a modern way), and genealogy (finding out one of my own yesterdays, of sorts).
