Wednesday, May 07, 2003 5:40 PM I've found some contests to enter, so I'm happy about that. A few are at Writer's Digest... no huge prizes or anything, but it would be something for the resume. And the Exeter Public Library is making a poetry anthology about the town. The only problem is that I've only been to Exeter once... but I do have rather strong memories of a bookstore there, so I can write about that, right? And next week I'm going to go hear Dan Brown there, so I'll spend some time in the town and library. I'm sure I can come up with a few poems. And that would be exciting! It's a real book! Tuesday, May 06, 2003 6:36 PM A decision So I made a somewhat arbitrary decision this morning. I decided that my goal is to be able to support myself by writing by the time I turn 25. (I'm turning 21 on July 31, for those of you who don't know.) This was a somewhat sudden decision, but not too much so... I'd been thinking about related things for a while. There are a few reasons. 1. A specific goal like that is better (for me, at least) than trying to be a professional writer "someday." So. What next? My more short-term goal is to get something published for money by the end of 2003. Let's see how I do.
Sunday, May 04, 2003 5:33 PM Hello hello! I'm back to trying to do some writing almost every day, and I'll tell you about it here. I hope. Bear with me. On May 1, I submitted an article entitled "Knitting Yourself Together" to Knitty. They liked my last article I wrote for them, so hopefully they'll like this one too.
